The Manhattan chess set pairs the New York chess pieces with the Bologna chess board. The pieces are finished with red, black, and white paint-splatter lines that give the set a more expressive surface character, while the underlying forms remain clearly legible in play. The red tone of the board reinforces this effect and gives the full combination a strong visual unity.

With a king height of 4.0 in, the set remains compact and easy to place on smaller tables. The king base diameter is 4.3 cm (1.69 in), and the pawn base diameter is 3.1 cm (1.22 in). On 5.0 cm (1.97 in) squares, the set sits comfortably, leaving clear spacing between neighbouring pieces. The set includes one additional queen per side.
