The Arno chess set pairs the Florence chess pieces with the Asturias chess board. Handcrafted in India, the dark pieces are ebony and the light pieces are boxwood. They are unlacquered and hand-finished, preserving the natural colour and texture of each wood. The king stands 4.75 inches tall, giving the set a generous scale on the board.

The king base diameter is 4.9 cm (1.93 in), while the pawn base diameter is 3.9 cm (1.54 in). On the Asturias board’s 6.0 cm (2.36 in) squares, even the broadest pieces have room between their bases. One additional queen per side is included, and the pieces come with a Certificate of Authenticity.

Made in Spain, the Asturias chess board measures 60 cm (23.6 in) on each side. Its black-dyed poplar and light maple squares have an ultra-matt finish that keeps reflections low and provides a simple backdrop for the natural woods of the pieces.
