The Apollo chess pieces are among the most intricately carved designs in the collection. Handcrafted in India, they are available in three combinations—ebony with boxwood, lacquered ebony with lacquered boxwood, and lacquered padauk with lacquered boxwood—each with the same refined profiles and ornamental detail.

The knight is particularly detailed, with a deeply carved mane and clearly defined facial features. The bishop has a tall, open mitre, while subtle collars set the pawns apart from simpler designs. The king comes with a distinctive finial and an alternative traditional cross.

With a king height of 4.4 in, the pieces are weighted for steady handling during play. The king base diameter is 5.1 cm (2.00 in), and the pawn base diameter is 3.7 cm (1.46 in). These proportions suit 6.0 cm (2.36 in) squares well, leaving comfortable spacing between neighbouring pieces. The set includes additional queens and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
