Care at a glance

These recommendations apply to wooden chess boards and to chess pieces with natural or lacquered finishes.

Sunlight

Keep the products out of prolonged direct sunlight, which may gradually alter the colour of wood and increase the risk of cracking.

Heat

Keep the products away from radiators, fireplaces and other direct heat sources. Prolonged exposure may damage the wood or its finish.

Humidity

Keep the products indoors and avoid very dry or damp conditions and sudden or significant changes. Relative humidity of approximately 35–55% is a useful general guide. The same conditions apply during long-term storage.

Cleaning

Use a soft, lint-free cloth. If needed, wipe with a cloth lightly dampened with water and a little mild detergent, then dry immediately. Do not use abrasives, solvents, polishes or waxes.
