The Venezia is a chessboard crafted from elm root and handmade in Florence, Italy. The board measures 51.0 cm (20.1 in) overall and features 5.0 cm (1.97 in) squares. It is proportioned for tournament‑size chessmen, with a recommended King height of approximately 3.75–4.00 inches, and pairs particularly well with lacquered pieces.
The veneer squares are individually inlaid by hand. The swirling grain, natural patterning, and knotting of the elm root create strong tonal variation and depth across the surface. As the wood structure varies naturally, each board has a distinct appearance.
The Venezia chessboard is also available in a larger 60.0 cm (23.6 in) format with 6.0 cm (2.36 in) squares as the Da Vinci chessboard. The larger size is recommended when pairing the board with club‑size chessmen, with a King height of approximately 4.25–4.75 inches.
